Just back from an exciting stay at Universal Orlando's newest property - the Universal Stella Nova Resort! As a travel advisor and mom, I couldn't wait to check out this space-themed resort with my family, especially given its prime location next to the upcoming Epic Universe theme park.
The resort's cosmic theme is brilliantly executed from the moment you arrive. The architecture and design truly make you feel like you've stepped onto a luxurious space station, with sweeping curves, dynamic lighting, and stunning galactic artwork throughout the public spaces. The attention to detail in bringing the space theme to life is impressive without feeling kitschy or overdone.
Accommodations:
The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. We booked adjoining rooms, which offered good flexibility with different bathroom configurations (one with a full shower, the other with a bath combo). Do note that as part of their eco-friendly initiatives, housekeeping service is provided every other day.
Dining & Amenities:
The ground floor features a convenient café and market, perfect for quick meals and snacks. For recreation, the resort offers several standout features:
- A massive temperature-regulated pool that stays comfortably warm even on chilly days
- An impressively large hot tub (the biggest I've ever seen!)
- Nightly poolside movies on a large projector screen - a huge hit with the kids
- A well-equipped fitness center
- An arcade for additional family entertainment
Location & Transportation:
The Stella Nova is positioned directly across from the upcoming Epic Universe theme park (opening May 22, 2025). The complimentary shuttle system is comprehensive and convenient:
- Shuttles run approximately every 15 minutes
- Service to CityWalk (gateway to both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure)
- Dedicated shuttle service to Volcano Bay water park
- Average ride time is about 15 minutes
- Future walking paths and shuttle service planned for Epic Universe
Park Benefits:
One of the biggest perks of staying at Stella Nova is Early Park Admission! This valuable benefit lets you enter the parks before the general public, giving you a head start on your favorite attractions.
Value & Positioning:
As part of Universal's value category of resorts, Stella Nova offers an excellent balance of amenities and affordability. It's worth noting that it shares its prime location with Universal's other new space-themed property, Terra Luna (opening March 2025), giving guests multiple options in this exciting new resort area.
Family Perspective:
As both a travel advisor and a mom who just visited with kids, I found the Stella Nova hits the sweet spot between affordability and family-friendly amenities. The nightly pool movies and spacious rooms make it especially appealing for families, while the sophisticated space theme gives it a more elevated feel than typical value resorts.
